Haiti went to the World Cup once, in 1974. These days, they cheer mostly for Brazil and Argentina. US men’s national team striker Jozy Altidore is of Haitian descent, too, and has contributed to relief efforts. Wa-wa, as S.T.E.P.’s dean of students is known, says soccer is one of the few things people look forward to these days.
